Halloween in the Hood

On Wednesday night we had our first Halloween Party in the pub. We shut the lounge bar from 3pm til 8pm while we decorated with balloons, spiders and pumpkins. Dave created various ghoulish posters to place in the picture frames and we swathed the place in ivy (finally cleared away from the back porch) and cotton wool cobwebs.


June and Phil had been busy in the kitchen creating items such as Scary Spider Tarts, Hard Boiled Egg Eyeballs and Jack O' lantern Pizza. There was a choice of four complimentary cocktails 'Mad Eye Martini', 'The Vampyre', 'The Zombie' and the 'Brain Hemorrhage' all garnished with a squidgy eyeball or two.

Doors opened at 8pm and with an ipod full of Halloween(ish) music, Denise dazzling in full wicked witch regalia and Sarah a rather fetching Skeleton, the night kicked off. The evening consisted of a 'Hallows Eve Special' quiz (courtesy of our regular Quiz Meister John), sticky 13's with a guaranteed prize fund of £100 and a dress the Mummy competition thanks to Mandy buying a truck load of toilet rolls.

Throughout the night various prizes were given away if you were fortunate enough with the lucky dip (with every a drink you picked a ticket) plus Phil's infamous 'Spotty Bottom' game! Overall a fun night was had by all right up to the witching hour and we look forward to the next event night (any excuse for a party).
